Been there, done that

Dale Hollow Lake, Army Corps of Engineers Campground, near Monroe, Tennessee
Gorgeous, amazing place. Overpriced (fifteen bucks for no electric, just a tent site), but worth it at the time. Worth it just for the road in, the twisting, swooping, curving road through rolling green hills, still-blooming wildflowers and mimosas, happy healthy livestock posing for us tourists.

We get an amazing campsite with an incredible view, not too close to the rest of the herd. We think we’ve beat the heat down by the water, but early early early Sunday morning the heat drives us away. There is nothing to do but throw the van together and push up the map, get the hot air moving through the van, be as still as possible, and pant with our poor hot dogs.
